Our Sins Are Forgiven and Forgotten

If we’ve truly repented, accepted the sacrifice of Jesus, and been forgiven for our sins, God treats us as if we’ve never sinned at all. He promises He forgives us and He never remembers that iniquity or transgression again. It is throughout the Word; OT and NT.

He no longer remembers our wrongdoing, it’s as if it never existed.

(Hebrews 8:12, NLT) “And I will forgive their wickedness, and I will never again remember their sins."

Isn’t this amazing? We don’t have to feel guilt or shame. The word says the devil is before God’s throne, constantly accusing the brethren. But we have a defender, a vindicator. The Lord is defending us and saying, “I don’t know what you’re talking about. I don’t remember that.” The devil also lies about the brethren.

(Psalm 103:8-12, CSB) “The LORD is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in faithful love. He will not always accuse us or be angry forever. He has not dealt with us as our sins deserve or repaid us according to our iniquities. For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his faithful love toward those who fear him. As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.”

It is gone, it doesn’t exist. Remember, Jesus paid it all. He took all sin with Him. Many think this is referring to all those up to the time of the crucifixion, but is not true. It is also for us who would come after that time under the new covenant. And don’t you dare let people make you feel guilty or ashamed of something you have already confessed, taken responsibility for, taken to the cross, and added to all those other sins Jesus took upon Himself. God has said, “I forgive you.”

God has forgiven you, so forgive yourself. You are a new creation loved immensely by the Father. Rest in this truth and live accordingly. God’s blessing on you always…
